D's Pirate Party
Last Saturday was D's Pirate Birthday Party. We held it here at the house and I decorated in a sea theme. We had blue and green streamers with colored paper fish. I created a 'pin the treasure on the X' game, the kids seemed to enjoy that. I had tried to make a pinata, but it ended up kind of weak after I painted it and I was afraid it wouldnt hold the candy for long. We decided against using the traditional way since a swining bat didn't seem like a good idea anyhow. So we hid it and the kids had to find it, then they ripped it open to find the candy. The kids that came seemed to have a real good time, and Darien was completely ecstatic. He was so proud and happy to have people at his house. He wanted to be a good host and made sure all the kids had a glowing bracelet, and made sure everyone got a piece of pizza. Oh yes, Mark and I made 3 home made pizzas for the event. Along with a goldfish party mix snack. I made a cake of course. D had picked out rainbow cake mix, so I added home made blue frosting. I then crushed up graham crackers and created an island on the cake sea. I added a treasure chest filled with candy, a toy pirate, and some gummy sharks in the water and we had a bona fide Pirate Island cake. It was fun to make and the kids all seemed to enjoy it. Overall the party was fun and Darien was very happy, which is what this is all for. :)
