D's Pirate Party

Last Saturday was D's Pirate Birthday Party. We held it here at the house and I decorated in a sea theme. We had blue and green streamers with colored paper fish. I created a 'pin the treasure on the X' game, the kids seemed to enjoy that. I had tried to make a pinata, but it ended up kind of weak after I painted it and I was afraid it wouldnt hold the candy for long. We decided against using the traditional way since a swining bat didn't seem like a good idea anyhow. So we hid it and the kids had to find it, then they ripped it open to find the candy. The kids that came seemed to have a real good time, and Darien was completely ecstatic. He was so proud and happy to have people at his house. He wanted to be a good host and made sure all the kids had a glowing bracelet, and made sure everyone got a piece of pizza. Oh yes, Mark and I made 3 home made pizzas for the event. Along with a goldfish party mix snack. I made a cake of course. D had picked out rainbow cake mix, so I added home made blue frosting. I then crushed up graham crackers and created an island on the cake sea. I added a treasure chest filled with candy, a toy pirate, and some gummy sharks in the water and we had a bona fide Pirate Island cake. It was fun to make and the kids all seemed to enjoy it. Overall the party was fun and Darien was very happy, which is what this is all for. :)

D's Bday at School

Today they celebrated Darien's birthday at school. They had a little ceremony where he walked around the sun 4 times. The sun is a little candle with the twelve months laid out around it. Then there's a little red candle sitting at the December card representing his birthday. It was really cute.
Also, they traced a picture of Darien on a big sheet of paper and he got to paint himself. They also asked for pictures of his newborn, age 1, 2, and 3 for a book they collect and to post on the wall near his self painting. It's really neat the school is about birthdays, really makes them feel special.
I had asked Darien what special treat he wanted for his little party at school. We talked about muffins and cookies and all kinds of things. Finally he said 'I was musky eats with little candies'. It took me a while the figure out what 'musky eats' were, though LOL He wanted rice krispy treats with m&m's. So that is what we took to his little celebration, along with some lemonade.

New Year's Eve

Last night was really fun. There's a couple that Mark and I met and they're really neat people. And their oldest daughter, who is 16, offered to watch the boys so we could all go out. We had a great time, we went to the Lodge and had a few drinks. The boys had a good time too, Jon fell asleep but D stayed up until 2 a.m. As soon as we got back to pick them up the first thing he says to me is ' I wanna come back.' Mark and I really like these new friends though and we hope to get together with them more often. They really fun, and we have things in common with them. Well, now we're gonna have to start thinking of new year resolutions LOL.
